Rodney Yost uses the sound of his voice and a stick to communicate to a horse and letting it know which behavior he wants it to perform. Yost uses the animal’s natural instincts and behaviors then offers incentives for the horse to want to learn.

His wife says the training allows the horses to respect rather than fear its rider.

“If they move the way he wants them to move and realize that if they do what he asks them to do, they gain respect and want to be with him actually,” said Erin Yost. “So they never do anything out of fear.”

Yost uses five horses for the demonstration to show their progression. The demonstration took place from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
