The Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo may be weeks away but people in Rapid City are already lining up for the popular event.
The hiring process for the stock show and rodeo has officially started. Dozens of applicants lined up for interviews Wednesday at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Brian Maliske, general manager of the civic center says he’s looking to add-on 100 to 125 part–time employees for the large event.
“This year we had some luck hiring throughout the year,” said Maliske. “Normally we need to build to about 700 part–time employees between our concession department, maintenance department, our parking staff, our event staff. All the different areas that we hire for.”
Maliske says applicants must be willing to work and undergo a background check.
The stock show and rodeo begins January 25. Maliske says he’ll need workers to help set up for the event this weekend.
