The Mount Rushmore Army ROTC commissions its newest Second Lieutenants on Sunday.

The six officers were commissioned after fulfilling their ROTC and university requirements. The new Second Lieutenant‘s received their bars with the famous faces in the backdrop.

The officers will serve both on active duty and in the South Dakota National Guard.

Guest speaker and Lieutenant Governor Matt Michels says he’s very proud of the new officers.

“We have a history of very successful officers, whether they’re engineers, nurses of infantry or intelligence, our state is very proud to continue the tradition of service so that we all cam remain free and enjoy our democracy,” said the Lieutenant Governor Michels.
