“Boot” fees could soon double

Rapid City Council members on the Legal and Finance Committee also weighed–in Wednesday on boot fees for vehicles.

The council passed a motion on the introduction and first reading of Ordinance 5837. This ordinance looks to change the process for putting a boot on vehicles with outstanding parking tickets by amending a section of the Rapid City municipal code.

Boot fees would double from $50 to $100, not to mention the vehicle’s owner would have to pay any towing and storage fees.
