Tourists visit Mt. Rushmore on President’s Day weekend

Image Tourists from all over the country and the world kick–start President’s Day weekend with a presidential visit. Dozens of people flocked to Mount Rushmore Memorial on Sunday to catch a glimpse of the famous faces.

Many say while they enjoy the day off from work, observing President’s Day is a great way to honor what our 44 presidents have done for our country.

“I don’t suppose it hurts to have a day where you just think about the people who lead the country, good, bad, or indifferent,” said Lincoln, Nebraska resident Charles Bills.

“What a great way to spend President’s Day weekend,” said Chris Weddell of West Point, Nebraska.

President’s Day was first celebrated in 1971. It falls between the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
