Young, old and even canine friends lined up in front ofRapid CityRegionalHospitalSunday afternoon to kick–start National Cardiac Rehabilitation Week. Some participants say the event is also a good way to get fit, have fun and keep blood pumping to their hearts.

“This year was a little crisper, but I think its actually gonna be a better race because I like to run more in colder weather than in hot,” said Sabrina Medeck, who has participated in previous years.

“It’s a good feeling,” said Stephanie Davis, a 3-year participant. “You are actually accomplishing something.”

Event organizers say the run/walk is the largest winter 5K event in theBlack Hills.
