Ribbons are cut for new National Guard buildings

The South Dakota National Guard commemorates three new buildings on its Rapid City campus. Two-hundred people looked on as three separate ribbons were cut Thursday, one for each building.

The buildings are technologically advance, energy – efficient and will help guard members communicate faster.

U.S. Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota, through his sub–committee, was able to secure more than $50 million for the projects. In a speech on Thursday he said that money was well spent.

“I know that this is a wise investment,” U.S. Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota said. “Investments in the guards are investments in the community and security of our nation.”

The project cost $54 million and took 3 years to complete.
