To avoid having people drive their cars onto the flooded ramp, the forest service made the call to close the south ramp. But now that’s causing problems and forcing changes at the north ramp too.
“It diverted all the traffic to the north ramp and in order to control parking. They’ve started to monitor and the parking is the issue,” said David Fisher, owner of Pactola Pines Marina. “So they’re only letting on boats as parking spaces become available.”
Fisher says today was the first day this year that he’s noticed a real decrease in water levels. The Bureau of Reclamation anticipates the water over the south ramp to return to its normal levels by august first.
